Sometimes you come across those business questions that just have you stumped or slow down your progress. Personally, this has happened to me, especially when I was just starting my online marketing business. Within this article I'm going to answer two of the questions I had about product creation, hoping to help you with your business success.
Question:
Is A Money Back Guarantee Required When Selling Products?
What I would do is check with your merchant account because often it is the merchant account that stipulates as far as the guarantee goes and sometimes they even say that you cannot offer guarantee longer than 30 days.
Your merchant account is the best place to start with when trying to determine what kind of guarantee you will offer. The government in your area will have specific rules and regulations regarding this practice and the merchant account is responsible for money coming and going, so they will be following these rules directly. Sometimes the FCC will change their stance, but your merchant account will have the latest and up-to-date information on the rules and regulations.
Check with your merchant account, but they are the ones that typically stipulate how long you can and cannot offer guarantee for.
Question Two:
What kind of percentage would you say is there on thievery, such as people downloading your product then immediately asking for a refund?
Professional refunders as I like to call them are people who will buy your product, download it, then almost immediately ask for a refund. Another group of people that you have to keep your eyes open for are those that purchase your product, download it themselves, then proceed to give your information to their friends, colleagues, family members, until you have ten people accessing information from one account. If you don't have something set up to track information like that you run the risk of it becoming a big problem.
With my tracking system that I have set up now I am able to see how many IP addresses are accessing my information and different things of that nature. When I first started I didn't have any type of system set up and although I knew people were passing around my info, I had no way of identifying exactly who they were putting a stop to it.
Armand Morin created a product, Product Padlock, which gives you the ability to secure your digital products. Through this product you can actually see who is downloading your product, where they are downloading it from and how many times they have downloaded it.
If you noticed you have got five different IP addresses that are completely different, all downloading your products, then you know that, "Hey, somebody is passing this info around somewhere." So Product Padlock is a great resource for that, but I do not know that I have a set percentage. It just it happens on the allocation but it happens no matter what product I sell.
