Everyone who has built a website must know that the secret to success is building back links. This used to consist of hours of work finding sites and asking for reciprocal links unfortunately this no longer works as well as it did. When it comes to getting 1 way links there is a new kid on the block and that's article marketing.
Regular new content is important for any website. By writing and distributing articles you can provide site owners with new content and at the same time get a back link or two for your site. In this article I'll attempt to answer some of the most common questions asked by people considering article marketing as a way to promote their sites.
What should I be writing about?
It is important that when you start out you write about what you know. You should also ensure that the content is relevant to the site you'll be promoting in the resource box.
How are site owners going to find my articles?
When you have finished writing and checking your articles you will submit them to article directories. These are like online libraries where the articles are listed in categories. Webmasters can copy the articles from these directories and use them just so long as they keep all the links in the articles live. You'll need to make sure that you have added a resource box to the bottom of your article that contains your links.
Don't Webmasters just remove the links?
Yes this does happen but not as often as you think. It is very easy to track these webmasters down. Use a tool like Google alerts which checks the Internet for relevant key phrases. It is very useful if you add a unique key phrase to your articles that you can enter into the search tool. You can also search for your name to ensure that all the links are live.
How long should the articles be?
There is not set length of article but anywhere from 200 words to a maximum of 3500 words is normal. Personally I usually aim for 350 -500 words as this usually sits nicely on a page
What is the ideal number of submissions?
There is no definitive answer to this. Personally I try to make each article unique and submit it to only 1 site. This is not as difficult as it sounds if you have the right tools at your disposal. Try to monitor the results you get and if you are getting good links from submitting to multiple sites then carry on doing it.
How many articles should I be writing?
Write as many as you can. Some people find they can only write 1 or 2 a day while others like my wife can churn our 25-30 in a day. Set yourself a target of writing 1 before breakfast everyday to start with and then take it from there

That may seem obvious but if you aren't prepared to invest the required time and effort you will inevitably fail again and again leaving you open to those quick fix scams. It isn't your fault because everything you've been told about making money online is wrong! Stop being conned and scammed and take control of your own destiny. The route to succes is actually surprisingly simple. 1. Choose your path to follow - Find a product that appeals or I'm going to recommend a method below. 2. Read everything twice. Read through all the information at least twice and make note of everything single step that you will need to complete. The detail will allow you to complete it. 3. Create a detailed task list. Break the plan down further into a task list with everything that you need to do. 4. Spend any free moment you have in a day to tackle one of the tasks. Most people would smirk at such a statement, but the agency is actually very proactive when taxpayers face a universal issue like the current spikes in gasoline prices. One of the great deductions available in the tax code is the business mileage deduction. If you drive on business matters, you can deduct the mileage at the end of the year by multiplying your total miles by a figure set by the IRS. How does the IRS determine the business mileage deduction rate? It is a hodge podge of factors including car insurance, vehicle depreciation and fuel costs. When one of these goes up, the IRS reacts to its credit. The IRS uses projections to come up with a figure before each year begins to let taxpayers know what to expect. This year, the deduction rate was set at 50.5 cents for every business mile incurred. Although the milege deduction rate is usually not changed, there is precedent for doing so. When prices are serious effected, the IRS can act on its own as it did during Katrina when gas prices shot up do to gas shortages in the South. Whether it is profiteering, a weak dollar, peak oil or some other reason, oil prices have shot up in 2008. In San Diego, we are closing in on $5 a gallon. This is in comparison to 2002 when we were paying only $1.75 for the same gas. While the rest of the government twiddles its collective thumbs, the IRS is doing something to help people. Who would've guessed it? The agency has cranked the business deduction rate up to 58.5 cents for the remainder of 2008. How do I come up with a total deduction if there are two rate amounts? Split your mileage for the year into before and after June 30th figures. Multiply by the corresponding rate. Add the totals together and you have the deduction. Business miles are not the only transportation deduction getting a bump. You can deduct mileage incurred for moving for a job. The rate for the first six months of 2008 is 19 cents, but the final six months now have a rate of 27 cents. The tax code also contains a provision for a deduction for mileage incurred while helping a charity. The IRS does not control this deduction. Only Congress can modify it. As such, there is no change for fuel prices. Fuel prices are projected to only go higher for the foreseeable future. While the bump in the mileage deduction helps, it may not be the last one in 2008. Keep an eye out for more changes.
