Making Money With Article Marketing - An Unwritten Rule

by RosieCottis

Whether you think of yourself as a writer or not, if you are working online then you should know how to make money with articles. The basics are pretty simple: write an article related to your subject, include a link to your website, submit the article to directories.

But there is a little more that you must do if you want to make serious money with your article. If you do not take a few moments to consider these points before you start, you risk wasting all of your writing time. And time is money online!

First, you need to think about why you are writing the article. In fact, you should have two clear reasons why your article has come into existence. The first is the overt reason, the information that you are giving the reader. The second is your make-money motivation, which should not be too obvious.

Sure, from your point of view, your main reason for writing an article is to make money. But your readers don't want an article that is written too obviously from that point of view. It is usually best to keep that motivation of yours so well hidden that it is almost invisible.

Instead, remember that you are writing the article to inform the reader. Yes, let's say it again - to give useful information to the reader.

While you don't want to give away the whole store, you should have something in mind before you start - a useful tip or caution related to your subject that will give real value to the reader. This should be something interesting enough to hook them in to reading the whole of your article, and clicking through to your website for more.

Remember that there are people who write articles and run websites simply for the love of it, without making a cent from them. Those people usually have strong feelings about their subject, whether it be their religion, their pets, a food fad, or whatever. Imagine you were someone like that and you just wanted to tell the world about your subject. Then add your link at the end of the article.

However, do not try to stuff your article with all the information you can think of. This only confuses the reader. One point is enough if you can develop it well; three points is certainly all that you would need. Remember that the aim is to leave the reader wanting more.

Your money-making motivation for writing the article will usually take one of three forms: branding (getting your name known as an authority), lead generation (readers are directed to a squeeze page), or direct sales (readers are directed to a sales page). These can overlap but one of them will be primary.

So before you submit your article, consider the thrust of the article both from the reader's point of view and from a money-making perspective. Do the two purposes go together well, or do they conflict? You may have written other articles leading to a squeeze page, but would this one be more effective if it went directly to a sales page, or to your blog?
