Is Drinking Coffee Really that Bad for you?

by KarynLewis

Why is there so much controversy about drinking coffee? If it were that bad for you why do people consume it daily? Why are there so many coffee shops out there with more opening their doors every day? It can be hard for a person to really know how bad coffee is for them. This is because the information on it seems to go in all directions. In the end though only you can decide if it is right for you or not.

Some of the healthiest people I know drink coffee each morning. They have done so for decades. There are others I know that don't touch the stuff yet the continually have one thing after another wrong with them. This says to me and to many others that there are too many variables for coffee to be pinpointed as the bad guy in most of these instances.

High cholesterol has been reported in many articles as being the result of people drinking decaffeinated coffee. Here they were thinking they were taking steps to help themselves and it backfired. These types of reports are scary but when you start to look past the headline you will find many of them don't hold much weight as far are being credible.

The issue of obesity is definitely a concern in our society though. This is one area where coffee often does have a very bad reputation. The days of plain old coffee have gone out the window in many places. Coffee shops all over the place offer you a choice of many flavored drinks. Yet the calories you will get from the may astonish you. If you consume these types of drinks daily you may notice you are putting on a few pounds. You may be wondering why if you haven't changed your eating habits.

Do you drink coffee to get energy? If so then this is something you will likely be criticized for. The experts are always pushing to eat something high in protein, take a brisk walk, or to get more exercise if you need more energy. Anyone working overtime, driving late at night, or studying for hours will attest to the fact that a pot of coffee will do wonders for getting you through it.

One thing you do need to consider is how your own body reacts to the coffee you drink. For many people it is no big deal. Others may get agitated, not sleep well, or get shaky. It could be due to the amount of coffee they drink or that their body just doesn't do well with it. When a person it taking various types of medications it can be a problem as well.

It is important to get regular check ups from your doctor. Don't be one of those people that only makes an appointment when you don't feel well. This way you can keep a good eye on your cholesterol, weight, and even heart disease. Your doctor will help you to address areas in your lifestyle where you may need to look at making some changes.

There is still a great deal of controversy out there about drinking coffee. Yet it is basically a choice you will have to make. There may be those that give you grief over it but you will have to decide how you want to deal with that. You can always go hang out with the people at your favorite coffee shop. Chances are they are going to support your decision to continue drinking coffee.
